The Anchor 3
Tipton Town Ladies FC 3

Ravens began this game against a team that we earlier beat 6-1 in the season. We were confident that we could repeat this. However The Anchor were determined not to let this happen again and a brand new set of players set about intimidating us by throwing flailing arms and studs about. As the fans began to call us Ravens chavs and asbos, they shouted "cyum on boiiiiis", "go on Tucko, Tucko superb mate" "nuffin wrong wiv a bit a physical" "ref he just kicked him". This worked for about 20 minutes but by then they had already taken the lead after a dubious free kick was converted. After this goal Ravens started to pass the ball around like we know we can and started making chance after chance. After a beautifully floated ball in by Tarik Foley, Kyle Moss made one of his trademark runs until he was halted by one of those flailing elbows. Ross Evans picked the ball up and sent the keeper the wrong way to keep up his 100% record. Then comes my favourite part, Once upon a teime Liam Dodsley poached the ball on the half way line, swivelled and passed back to Grant Sadler, who played a delicious return ball which Liam latched onto in a flash in his own half, played a glorious 10 yard pass to Ross Evans who was in the centre circle, he held the ball up for longer then the referee at half time, while he was holding the ball at his feet, Tim Brown set off on his bike, as he surged past the defender the ball from Ross Evans was sent at the perfect time in the perfect place, Tims first touch was sublime, as he burst through on goal and beared down on the oncoming goalkeeper he thrashed the ball wide. Before Tim could blame his miss on his shoelace the ref had blown his whistle for half time.
At half time Ravens had a lot of belief that they could blow The Anchor to sea, and at the start of the second half Ravens began a constant siege on the Anchor goal, some brilliant corner kicks from Tarik Foley left us oh so close to taking the lead. Take the lead we did a cupla minutes later when Ross Evans again picked the ball up on the left and after playing another perfect through ball to Rob Bentham who struck an accurate shot only for it to be palmed to the workhorse Agron who slammed it home fom all of 8 yards. Ravens then began to run riot and create more chances then a game of monopoly. After this the forever dangerous Kyle Moss who switched from left midfield to striker latched onto another perfect pass from Ross Evans and finished off by lobbing the goalkeeper from 20 yards. From 3-1 up it was hard to see where they would get back into this game, but they did after a rush of the blood to the head Tim Brown leapt above everyone to palm the ball to safety, but the picky referee pointed to the spot and unbelievably cautioned the workhorse Tim Brown. The spot kick was converted making the score 3 goals to 2. The Anchor then began to turn the screw in the last 2 minutes and from a corner they equalised against the run of play. There it ended 3 apiece, this was a very promising performance and things look brighter for the future.

Grant Sadler-7- Made some super stops, kicking was nice, well done son.
Liam Dodsley-6- Looked good in the air, calm and controlled.
Tarik Foley-6- Put in some great corners, kept going and his pace was useful.
Rob Bentham-7- Not his usual all action self but still put a boot in and made some trademark runs.
Kev Brooks-6- Formed a good partnership with Liam, held a good line.
Ayo-7- Quick feet and looks like he has an eye for goal.
Omni "Studs up" Sambrook-7- Studs seemed to be a little blunt in the first half, but then everyone knows having rusty studs means his studs will be sharper, had a great 2nd half.
Kyle Moss-8- A constant menace, had 2 good chances that he manufactured for himself, fantastic run and finsih for his goal.
Tim Brown-8- Missed a sitter and gave away a penalty, booked, it doesnt look good but he ran tirelessly, used the ball well and never gave up.
Ross Evans-8- Used the ball brilliantly when given any sort of time, in the first half he was holding the ball up well despite the constant kicking, 2nd half he set up 2 goals, made good runs and spread the ball well.
