Ravens went into this crucial promotion 6 pointer aiming to give themselves a realistic chance of promotion by taking the 3 points. After arriving 10 minutes before kick off with half the team carrying knocks the game started disastrously when we conceded 4 early goals, due to a combination of bad defending, bad communication and individual mistakes. At this point it looked like we would be going down to double figures but the impressive Liam Dodsley and John Burdett started to control the attackers after they applied deep heat to injuries. From then on in Ravens began to come into the game and domninated for the last 10 minutes of the 1st half. Half time came and with almost half of the squad hobbling off we could tell that whatever we did we would not be able to get back into this game, Anyway we started the 2nd half as we ended the 1st and came more and more into the game but with players falling like flys we just couldn't compete, the pitch was heavy and the ball did not roll forcing us to run extra hard. With all of our subs used we finished the game with 10 men after Ross Evans picked up a knock and Liam Dodsley and John Burdett barely able to stand. Anyway John Burdett conceded a penalty to make it 5-0 and Ayo scored his first goal for the club with a driven shot into the bottom corner.
This was a very poor performance and if it continues then we will be battling with Banjax for the wooden spoon, that is not even an exaggeration that is how bad we played. With the quality that we have in our team we should be fighting to be at the top of the league. In this game the only people to emerge with any credit are Liam Dodsley who has stepped his game up, and started fighting for his place and Ayo who looked promising in centre midfield. Next week it is City Supporters and if we play like that again we will be hammered, against a team with little ability but willing to fight for eachother, which we seem to have forgotten how to do since the Anglo game.
